About this job

We are looking for a high calibre Assistant Company Secretary to join us in this newly created position. Reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with the new Director of Finance/Company Secretary, your duties will include ensuring that we meet our extensive governance responsibilities, as well as organising and servicing board and committee meetings. This includes ensuring that all standing orders, policies and procedures around governance are met. The ideal successful candidate will have experience of being a company secretarial/governance professional, experienced in servicing meetings, and with high level skills, abilities and credibility. Responsibilities

  • Provide a specialist Assistant Company Secretary resource to assist the organisation in meeting its regulatory, statutory, governance and compliance responsibilities.
  • Ensure the effective servicing of the MHA Board, Committees and associated meetings.
  • Planning meetings, preparing agenda, collating papers and ensuring their timely distribution, attending meetings, preparing and typing up of accurate and comprehensive minutes and following up the action plan.
  • Ensure compliance with the code of conduct, statutory requirements, standing orders, financial regulations and governance best practice.

Experience and qualifications

  • Experienced company secretarial professional with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar or comparable role;
  • Although not essential being ICSA part/fully qualified would be a distinct advantage;
  • Educated to 'A' level standard as a minimum or equivalent.

Personal qualities and behaviours

  • Excellent and effective written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong prioritisation skills;
  • Advanced skills in MS word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.

Assistant Company Secretary (1 vacancy)

Job Purpose

To support the Chief Executive, Director of Finance/Company Secretary in meeting our extensive governance responsibilities. These include the regulatory governance and compliance responsibilities, ensuring that all standing orders, policies and procedures around governance are met. To service the Board and Committees and ensure that all governance policies are up to date and complied with and all Members receive high standards of support; training and administration.

Hours

Flexible: 27-35 hrs per week to be agreed with successful candidate

Salary

£28,000 per annum pro rata (based on 37 hours full time hours)
