BD5 MELA 2025: A Celebration of Culture, Community and Connection
On 29th July 2025, Manningham Housing Association (MHA) proudly hosted the BD5 MELA 2025—a vibrant and joyful celebration of culture, community, and summer spirit. Held at the historic St Stephen’s Church in West Bowling (BD5), the event brought residents of all ages and backgrounds together in a powerful display of unity in diversity.
A Historic Venue Transformed
For one special evening, the church’s Great Hall, courtyard, and outbuildings were transformed into a lively festival space filled with colour, music, and the delicious aromas of home-cooked food. The theme, “Celebrating Culture”, reflected MHA’s ongoing commitment to inclusion and togetherness across the communities we serve.
A Feast for the Senses
Visitors were treated to a diverse selection of culinary delights, from aromatic biryani and sizzling kebabs to crispy samosas and comforting nuggets and chips. The experience was topped off with sweet treats like pink tea and pancakes, creating a true feast for the senses.

BD5 MELA 2025 was packed with engaging activities for all ages, including:

We also received suggestions to consider a larger or open space and to enhance the food offering—valuable insights we’ll carry forward when planning future events.
