Manningham Housing Association is part of the Kickstart Housing Partnership led by Clarion Housing Group, the UK’s largest provider of affordable housing. Organisations in the Partnership have secured funding from the Government to create new job placements for 16-24-year-olds through the Kickstart programme.
The Kickstart Housing Partnership: a consortium of 59 organisations (including Manningham Housing Association), including 44 in the housing sector, that will create new Kickstart roles under which the government pays 100% of the national minimum wage for the six-month work placement.
The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment. Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:
Each job placement needs to help the young person become more employable. The Kickstart gateway needs to agree with the employer how this is done.
If the application is successful:
- The Kickstart gateway will give DWP job descriptions that work coaches at Jobcentre Plus will use.
- The work coaches will match suitable candidates for the job placements.
- The employer will then be able to interview the candidates matched to their job placements.
- They’ll select the candidate best suited to the role.
After a job placement ends the employer can get another Kickstart Scheme young person to start another job placement.
