Joe Langfield, Head of Finance

Joe started working as an accountant in a small family run accountancy practice in Long Eaton, Derbyshire in 1990 and qualified in 1995. The practice’s client base covered all types of businesses from builders, hairdressers to pharmacies. They were of varying sizes but most on the small end. Joe enjoyed mostly the developing of close working bonds with the clients he worked with and watching their businesses grow and flourish. To this day he has a strong affection for small businesses as they are often the most innovative and dynamic part of the UK business sector.
In 2002 he moved to Derwent Housing in Derby as Financial Accountant, it was his first experience in the social housing sector. When he was interviewed for the role the Finance Director he was told by one of the interviewers that “he had never had a dull day at work”, 19 years later Joe honestly states that is true for him too, it was probably the best move of his career, he added. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Derwent working in a variety of roles from Financial Accountant through to Head of Finance. In 2017 Derwent joined the Places for People Group, which is one of the largest housing groups in the UK.
He joined Manningham in 2021 as Head of Finance and he considered it the perfect match up for him working with a small business in a sector that he is really passionate about: social housing. Outside of work he enjoys keeping fit and spending time with his family. He is a keen swimmer and cyclist. And also enjoys watching sport, especially rugby and cricket.
