Manningham Housing Association (MHA) is celebrating a landmark year of recognition, having been shortlisted for five major awards, including being named a finalist in the Bradford Sports Awards – Active Workplace category.
This latest recognition reflects MHA’s strong commitment to embedding physical activity, health, and wellbeing into everyday life for both staff and tenants.
Throughout 2025, MHA delivered a wide range of inclusive initiatives designed to improve physical and mental wellbeing while strengthening community connections.
For tenants, activities included Men in Motion walking groups, men’s wellbeing sessions combining light exercise and meditation, and women-only swimming sessions that created safe and welcoming spaces for participation. Additional initiatives such as bicycle workshops, community walks, and healthy living sessions helped residents—particularly those less likely to engage in sport—build confidence and improve overall wellbeing.
For staff, MHA actively promoted a healthy workplace culture through 5-a-side football, step challenges, walking initiatives, and friendly table football competitions. A key innovation was the introduction of a Health MOT machine in the office, enabling staff to monitor indicators such as blood pressure, weight, and BMI—encouraging awareness and positive lifestyle choices.
This recognition highlights the importance we place on creating a workplace where health and wellbeing are embedded into everyday life. By investing in our people’s physical and mental wellbeing, we are building a stronger, more resilient organisation that can better serve our tenants.
Together, these initiatives have increased participation in physical activity, reduced isolation, and strengthened a sense of community across Bradford.

In addition to its sporting success, MHA has been shortlisted for four Northern Housing Awards, including:
