For further guidance, you can read the government’s Domestic abuse: how to get help page, which includes contact information for national support organisations, link below:

Domestic abuse can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, religion, or background.
It includes a wide range of behaviours, such as:

  • Physical or sexual violence
  • Emotional or psychological abuse
  • Controlling or coercive behaviour
  • Financial or economic abuse
  • Online or digital abuse

Abuse can take place between current or former partners, family members, or carers. It is never your fault, and help is available.

Recognising that you may be hurting someone is the first step to change.
