Where to get help

If you believe you are being abused or worried you may commit domestic abuse, read the Domestic abuse: get help during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak detailed guidance on how to get help which includes contact information for organisations and services which offer support and advice.

If you are in immediate danger, call 999 and ask for the police – the police will continue to respond to emergency calls.

If you suspect that your neighbours or those in your community are victims of domestic abuse, we encourage you to report it to the police.

If you are in danger and unable to talk on the phone, dial 999 and listen to the questions from the operator and respond by coughing or tapping the handset if you can (If you are in danger, you will be asked to dial “55). Click here for the guidelines.

The National Domestic Abuse Helpline is run by Refuge and offers free, confidential support 24 hours a day to victims and those who are worried about friends and loved ones.

John Knox, Board Member

John is an experienced accountant who has experience in human resources policy and legislation, information management, information technology, health and safety, property and corporate governance including risk management.

John is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and Chartered Global Management Accountants. He is an IOSH Health and Safety Trained Practitioner.

In his present position as Director of Strategic Improvement and Head of Property at the Diocese of Leeds Church of England, John leads a property team providing estates management services across a diverse property and land portfolio. Having set up a Property Committee in 2021, John to be leading the Property Team on a retrofit project to identify what improvements can be made to the property portfolio and also look at how any systems and processes can be changed to improve the property service offered.

Previous experience includes the development of Service Business Plans, including the setting and monitoring of objectives and key performance indicators. In addition, John has developed and implemented a budget strategy based on income growth.
